Beezy, Beezy, Beezy

Things are a little hectic around here right now. These next three months are going to be anything less than boring (in a good way)!

First of all, I'm expecting one of these to show up any day now.

Monday evening I leveled the site and finished taking down the existing fence in the area because as soon as the shelter gets here, then I'll be putting up continuous fencing along the north edge of the property (like this, but painted gray).

I wish I could afford to do it all, but unfortunately I have to take it a step at a time. It will be so nice, though and look a lot better than my patchwork pattern of panels.

Alliteration rocks.

I'll still have the temporary fencing along the west and middle part of the westernmost pen, but hopefully next year I can get that all replaced as well. It's all about building up to the good stuff, right?

Speaking of building up, over the next couple of months Dad and I will be replacing all of the windows on the north and west sides of the house, rebuilding the porch, and replacing all the siding on those two sides.

Again, wish I could afford to do the whole thing, but I keep getting stiffed at the lottery ticket counter. I take them back and tell them the ticket was a dud each time, but they just give me a strange look. Actually, the last couple of times they sold me the ticket and then locked the door behind me.

I have no idea what that's all about.

Anyway, I've also been planning a trip with one of my friends. We haven't been anywhere since we went to London in 2003. We'd like to go to Peru next year, so we both didn't want to spend much money, so I think we're going to go to South Dakota. She lives in Nebraska and I have yet to see her place (bad friend Jessie--bad friend!!), so I'll drive up there, pick her up, then we'll head on up to see Mount Rushmore and do some hiking in the badlands.

I also want to see Devil's Tower. I saw it once when I was a kid but hardly remember anything about it. There's also a hiking trail around it that we'll probably trek.

All that hiking gives me one more reason to keep on my pursuit of healthiness (see what I did there? )! I'm still on track to lose 35 pounds for charity. I've lost eight so far, which isn't great, but not bad considering all the cold weather set me back two pounds halfway through.

I'm back on track now, though, and doing pilates three times a week and walking and running on my treadmill ten times a week (morning and evening). I've also contemplated entering the 5K in Lawrence, KS in April. I have friends that do the half-marathon (there's no way I could do it), but I'd get to maybe see them and spend a little time with them once I recover from my lungs exploding. Good times!

Now, all this is on top of getting two horses ready for their first shows in May and my usual schedule of working full time, cleaning up those big piles of ash, begging the kitties' forgiveness after having them all fixed this past week, my everyday chores, and of course (hopefully) doing a few fun things in between. It probably sounds crazy, but then, so am I.

That makes sense if you don't think about it too much.

I'd like to attend your imaginary wedding; but I'm really busy that day. I have a unicorn baptism and a leprechaun Bar Mitzvah,

You sound like you're going to be really busy but in a good way. It will be nice to get away for a while with your friend and do something different too.Looks like a fun trip.

It's a good thing you don't need sleep.

What's that? You do? Well you're going to have to learn to do without, sleep doesn't fit into that schedule.

wow that last quote sounds like it's off a movie.... Anyway South Dakota is awesome. We went there for an FFA trip when I was in high school! You have to go to Mitchell SD and Wall SD if you go... just as a few places. In Mitchell they have a palace that every year is designed out of corn cobs and every year is different. It's flippin awesome!

You're right Arlene--it's been too long and will be nice to take a bit of a trip to catch up on things.

Shannon--you crack me up!!! LOL I might just have to learn how to do without!!

Nicole--yep, it's a quote from Friends :) Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out!
