Laramie versus Sophie--the Showdown

Yes, Sophie is an instigator, a scrappy young gal from the wrong side of the tracks. Yes, Bambi has been taking posing lessons from Hope (aka Tyra). Yes, I have a little too much fun with my animals.

The opponents size each other up...

Sophie makes the first move to try to psyche her opponent out...

Um, that didn't go quite as planned...

Sophie stands her ground despite Laramie's intense look...

Well, she sort of stands her ground...

OK, she doesn't stand her ground at all.

But don't count her out yet, folks!

Laramie is not being very cooperative at all...

That's right Sophie, you showed her...

Laramie wanders over to see what Bambi has been hypnotized by this entire time while Sophie looks away in shame (just turn the camera off, please)...

That is too funny, Laramie is a pistol and Sophie must be one as well. Ummmmmmmm, I did notice though that you haven't done anything to tame that nice little mane of Laramies yet!! Won't that be fun? Her fathers daughter.....his is a bramble and I just let it go for a few years before I thin and shorten it. He is in fine fashion right about now!

Yeah, haven't gotten to that mane yet. I guess I was praying it would shed out with her winter coat LOL. I figured I'd wait until I started fitting her--maybe the neck sweats will calm it down (I know, I'm in denial--what mane? LOL)

Ummmmm, Honey, you need some help if you are thinking that shedding and mane tamers are gonna help THAT mess!!! Will that even fit under a mane tamer? She looks like she has one of those huge afros of the 70's! I truely think that his mane and it needing pulled is one of the reasons that Bub hates having his done, he gets really antsie when he thinks that is going to happen and of course when he was showing big, it was an inch long and super thin, wonder how they did that? Might explain a little about his needle phobia as well! Anyway, have fun with that! I think I really like Sophie and I love the shot where she is running at an angle to Laramie, looking like a good working dog in all her glory......maybe not so much in some of the other shots though! Did you see what the other filly was looking at?

Yeah, unfortunately I think that Laramie will have to endure the rigors of mane pulling. Good thing I got plenty of practice on my POA's! :) Yeah, as many times as the halter horses at that level are stuck with needles, they sure can't be blamed for being so needle-shy.

I AM thankful that Laramie's mane isn't frizzy! I worked with a colt that had a fro, I swear! LOL!! And I wasn't allowed to pull it, so between thinning shears, neck warmers, prayers and incantations (LOL) I was finally able to get it banded looking halfway decent. Oh well, practice! LOL

Anyway, I love her, rock-star mane and all :))
