A New (and Very Cute) Face

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you might remember in May of last year, when I had a bittersweet announcement about some of Eddie's get. One of his fabulous colts unfortunately passed away, but the sweet part of the news was that Eddie's first "grandbaby" was born.

Well, she's all grown up now, and coming to live with me.

These spots on her face just kill me.

OK, I just died.

While I have had to turn down some very great offers for some very great horses, I will always provide room for one of Eddie's kids if it is needed (I learned the hard way on that one). I know she's technically not his kid, but she's one of his progeny and I bred him after all, so I want to do all I can for them. However, she's no charity case! Fortunately it's a total win/win as she's got some excellent breeding behind her. She's pretty solidly-bred to be a western pleasure horse, and that happens to be what I'm concentrating in right now.

It's sort of like it's meant to be....

She's a yearling, and unless I think of a better name in the mean time, I'll probably register her as "HelloMyNameIsFabulous." It's from a Sex and the City line. Her barn name right now is "Itty Bitty," but judging from the photos her name does not fit her, so I might have to think of something else. Bambi would have been an "Itty Bitty," or maybe Moose for sake of irony?

The filly is pretty well bred. Her sire is a son of Even Dirty, who has produced an PtHA Champion with his first foal, among other things.

Even Dirty is a son of APHA Champion Dirty Sonny:

Her sire's dam is a daughter of APHA Painted Triples:

His dam was also a granddaughter of Mr Rusty Zipper, who was the sire of Eddie's first foal's (with me) dam, so these bloodlines have crossed nicely in the past.

On the bottom side, this filly is out of an appendix mare by Eddie:

Excluding the Thoroughbred of course, every one of this filly's great-grandsires is an APHA champion.

So, this pretty filly will be welcomed home. She hasn't had much handling, but she's level headed and healthy, so it will only be a matter of time before she's in everyone's pockets soon, and hopefully in the show ring one day in the not-so-distant future :)

She is super cute and I love the registered name. She looks totally like a freckles though.

Thanks! Aww...I love that! I will have to try "Freckles" out on her. It certainly fits her look :)

Thank you, Kate! I go pick her up today. I'm so excited. I really hope she'll show that Eddie can be a good broodmare producer!
