A Few Things

Right now there is a lot going on inside this noggin of mine.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Movie quotes is just one of those things. Here are few of the others:

1. You might have noticed that I redesigned my blog.

I don't think I care much for it. If you don't either, just bear with me...I'm working on an alternative as we speak.

2. Two years ago I killed my back so badly that I was bed-ridden for two weeks and for an entire month I wasn't able to drive. It was the worst time--ever.

Here lately my back has really been acting up again--not quite to that degree but it did start scaring me a bit. My good chiropractor (that would actually climb on top of my leg to adjust me--I'm so tight, keyed-up and inflexible that's what it takes) is clear up in KC and I haven't found anyone that can adjust me like that around here. A light and easy stretch just doesn't do me any good. I need a chiropractor that can 'crack me bones.'

But, the good news is that after a really rough day Saturday (my legs hurt so bad that I was almost in tears after getting chores done) that I seem to be doing much better. My legs hurt pretty much every day, but it's far less frequent and subtle now--something I can definitely live with! It's very good news, too, since I have so much to do around here!

3. Complete random sidebar: I can't believe this is Trent Reznor.

I have very mixed feelings about this photo. While I've always been a big fan of NIN, the guy used to kind of creep me out. Now he's...hot. I don't know where to put my emotions.

4. Annette asked about my trailer in yesterday's comments. Yep, that's mine, and thank you--I love it!!

You can read about my adventure going to look at it last year HERE. It's older (1978 model) but it's a 2-horse with sleeping quarters. It's insulated on the inside, too, and has an air conditioner and inside lights. I just have to get it finished out on the inside some day and have it repainted. I also want to put real trailer tires on it (it just has car tires on it now), but they're over $100 each, so that will probably be done next year.

It's perfect for me, though. It's a straight-load which a lot of people don't like, but the nice thing about that is that there is a seperate tack area under the manger, so I don't have to keep my tack in with my living area. It came with a brand new mattress, too. I really love it.

5. One year ago this week I moved out to the farm where I now live. I can't believe how much things have changed just in one year. Thinking about how much I have to do, it's easy to forget what I've already done (with a lot of help from my Dad). Not that long ago I couldn't even have a pen along the south side of the barn--it was a mess:

And where my shelter is now, and the new one and new fencing will be very soon, there were these terrible, rotten, old cattle pens:

I have to say I'm quite happy with how things are going. I know it's not a showplace, but our hard work is paying off, slowly but surely!

6. Rest In Peace, Jane Russell.

I remember when I was little, watching The Paleface (with her and Bob Hope) and thinking she must be the most beautiful woman in the world.

I love that old movie, too. I think I need to hunt it down and order it. If you've never seen it, it's super-cute and definitely worth the Netflix rental. It's a great family movie.

-I really like the header pic but the sides are a bit busy
-I agree he looks hot which I also think is weird
-and I can see exactly why your back hurts and I wonder if you've consulted with a surgeon just in case. My back looked like that, with the awful leg pain, and it was the actions of a chiropractor that eventually sent me under the knife. Just be careful, mkay?

I like the header. You do such creative headers... I actually am horrible at them!

And hopefully you've taken photos of all your progress on your farm b/c you'll be glad you did, especially on days when nothing seems to be going right or happening!

I like the header but carrying it to the sides could be a bit busy. But hey it's your blog do what you like.
People will read it no matter what it looks like.

Jane Russell was really beautiful. That was a cute movie.

I think it's easy to forget how much work has already been done when there is so much more to do. But take a pat on the back out of petty cash, you've done some great work!

Had the same thing with my back and leg. Never bothered with a chiropractor. I guess if you find a good one you should stick with him. Feel better.

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one that's not crazy about the new design... It's certainly bright, but busy... Too busy...

Just checked back and now it's absolutely beautiful. Perfect match up with the header and background. Very talented designer.
